Tools
This is a list of some of the tools found on the Tool Bar: Move Tool: Once an area of an image has been selcted, the move tool can be used to move the selection anywhere on the canvas. Marquee Tool: The marquee tool can make selections that are rectangular or elliptical. Lasso Tool: The lasso tool is similar to the marquee tool except this time it is all freehand. The "marching ants" will indicate if a selection has been made. - Polygonal Lasso: Will only draw straight lines - Magnetic Lasso: can detect the edges of an image by examing the color pixels. Select a starting point and drag your cursor over the edges. If magnetic lasso goes crazy hit ENTER to bring up the "marching ants", then you can deselect. Quick Selection: selects areas based on edges like the magnetic lasso, but this time there is not starting and ending point. You can select as much as possible without starting over by dragging the cursor ocer the desired areas. If you go over to much, you can always hold down ALT to bring back an area. Magic Wand: selects areas based on pixels that are similar to each other with one click. Eraser: The eraser tool erases an image based on the layer it is on. The style and size of the eraser can be adjusted in the options bar. Typing: The type tool create an area where text can be entered. Retouching: The clone stamp, burn, dodge, smudge and blur tools are all used to retouch photos. The clone stamp tool samples a selected portion of an image, and duplicates it over another area. The smudge tool, when dragged across part of an image, stretches and smudges pixels and the blur tool softens portions of an image by lowering the amount of detail. The burn and dodge tools, adjust the exposure; the burn tool darkens selected areas, and the dodge tool lightens them. |
